week 12 - Thats it folks

So, our project needed to be finished and uploaded yesterday and i'm glad to say that me, Sam and Dan met the deadline with a few hours to spare. We had a couple of problems when we finished for the weekend last friday the 25th with the end scene video. So we all turned up bright and early monday morning to get it all done and dusted. After looking back at the Project it seems ages ago when we all got together and came up with the concept but the last week of our deadline probably made things seems longer then they were concidering we got about 50 or 40% of the work actually done. Their were some long 14 hour sessions tho that made up a portion of that percentage.

We all sent off our personnel statements to our tutor Mark and I think we all gave each other a pretty good estamate of work contributed. Me doing about 80% of the work,....... Only kiding.

Our team rocked, our project is the shizzle and hopefully that will get reckognised in our marks, even though it wont really go towards our final grade but a good mark would be pleasing.

Anyways, A big thank you goes to Annie Coxen my little sis for coming through and working (without pay) with us even at short notice. We wouldnt of been able to do this without you so thanks big time (the guys was saying something about getting you a little something something for your troubles)
Another big thank you to my girlfriend Kim Grundy for, at the last minuite, acting her little "tukas" off in recording the voice over.
To Sam's car for blittzing here their and everywhere, without it carting around loads of video equipment would have been a nightmare.
And finally for my wallet for splashing out over £50 on the costume and not even arguing a little. And I thought it was gonna be equal contribution.

C&C - Minerva Project - Week 11

The video went well..... My step sister Annie Coxen came to save the day with our dilemma of not having an actress. I should of thought of her soon as knowing that shes a complete poser, but never the less where only just within time. We went to the white Harte after getting permission just over a month ago.

Filming went really well, I seemed to be directing more so because i came up with the story board and Sam did all the filming. My mam came also to do some photography, i just think she wanted to help in some way........ We got the filming done and now me, Sam and Dan are going to stay at Dans mams house to work on editing the video and sound to go onto the website where Dan will take over from their.

Work still needed to be done.......... Get ready for it.

Edit video 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
Record the vocals, edit them and input them on video
Edit the sound and music and input them into videos
Create a picture to be put in Uni (this will be one of the answers to a mission)
PHP: Create log in system, register system, contact form, form validation, database creation/updating, site structure and architecture (polishing off), site usability, imputing videos and content.
Riddle creation, sign up to blog and input past blogs created at the time, Input pic into flickr, input video into you tube, create poster, re edit buzz word on first page, edit the story to make it less graphic, forum entry, beer drinking and generally just polishing off the rest of the site.

Week 10

Last weeks all nighter was the best thing we've done since starting it. Me and Dan got some proper work done and dusted working for about 10 hours straight untill around half 6. Sam on the other hand passed out (litrally) by about half 2. We got most of the skeleton done for the site, and by we I mean mainly Dan. I did things like create graphics for the buttons and a flash animation for the enter button (which we cant use anyways becuase for some reason internet explorer wont acknowledge it's purpouse........ pants)

Jobs for next week

Leon - Get the bloody video sorted
Sam - Help With the bloody video

C&C - Minerva Project - Week 9

We now have permission to film in the white harte. We have the story board for the video, but we dont have an actress to perform as the ghost of Freda. I've asked Baxter (Charlotte) If she could do it, to which she has agreed but this weeks filming fell through. Badtimes

I've asked my Girlfriend (Kim Grundy - I love you) if she will be so kind as to do the vioce over for the video and thankfully she has agreed.

Since we havent as a group all got together to work on the project I've arranged an all nighter at my house this friday. Hopefully we can get some serriouse improvement made on the site.

I know it sounds bad but i haven't mentioned anything to Rodger. My reason for this is because yesterday in one of our lessons at uni me and Sam got together after the lesson to work on getting some stuff put onto Google earth, you tube and do some flash stuff. Rodger was their and we asked if he had time to work with us. He said no coz he had some stuff to go home to, i think it was decorating or something, but we just said fine and left it at that. Anyway, me and Sam was working for about 45 mins and i turned round and saw Rodger sat with some other students on games design. I shouted him over and asked him for some help with something and i asked him if he was going to work with us since he's still here. Anyways, he stayed for about 5 mins or so and then went back to the other guys. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me, so from that point i stopped informing him of our progress and get together since it hadn't made any difference in the past.

Week 8

Lastweeks meeting was good. Everyone in our group turned up and we all had done some work and we're cracking on really well.....

The only thing is, is that we have been doing this for sometime now and it seems like all we've been doing is planning. We havent as yet actually got something solid to show for our weeks of work.

1) Leon - plan filming and get white harte's permission to film their
2)Rodger - Come up with some flash animations that we can incorperate in with the videos
3)Sam - Work on the sound for our website

Week 7

Were getting on well as a team. We all seems to gel well and the quality we bring individually couldnt be better. Dan's the web master, Sam is the editing king and I plan like a man who's been planning from the days before bell bottoms came into fashion. It's a shame that Rodger isnt preasent becuase we could use his skills with Flash.

I did get intouch with him and he has said he'd come to the meetings if we change the time on wednesdays which we are doing as from today.

Going to the meeting later to talk about our progress.

Today we further developed the story of Freda ready for inclusions within the project. We sorted out properly whats going where, and the missions we wanted to include. We wanted to make it accessable for all internet users and not just for people at uni or people who live in hull but since it's our first year were just going to try and make it as easy and to the brief as possible.
Still no rodger, we have been getting a bit concerned about the lack of imput.

1) Leon - Get intouch with rodger and try and sort something out with involving him in some way
2) Sam - Story board
3) Dan - work on the website

C&C - Minerva Project - Week 5

This week we once again met up at Barracuda for a few beers. We discussed the overall progress so far and what each person had done to contribute and how they would continue to contribute. All members were present except for Roger again. Leon had drafted up the final logo as an image on his laptop which could then be implemented into anything we need it for. Dan had the blueprints for the website, and also had some great ideas for another riddle. Sam had created a flash intro for the site and worked on the last weeks blogs.

Things for next week:-
Dan. - Further development of the site / PHP.
Leon - Plan out the scenes / the order that the quest will go in
Sam - Research Hull Ghosts - find out about Fredas full story???

C&C - Minerva Project - Week4

Our meeting seem to be every wednesday at barracuda.... It's quite nice, we get some food, have a couple of beers and a game of pool or two, plus were getting free internet connection herewhich helps.... Still No rodger though, He said something about fixing a pond or something so he cant make it.We all did our jobs, and it seems like we allhave quite alot to do and thats just the start of it. During the week whilst i was at work i draw out about 15 different logo's and did a survay with about 30 people.Unfortunatly everyone seems to like ones that i dont which might say something about my taste but never mind.What we plan to do is film the story and put it on our website. Everytime the user get a questionright it goes onto a new movie clip.

Things to do for next week:

1) Leon - try and get an actress sorted for filming
2) Sam - Use the choosen logo and create a header
3) Dan - think about how the web site is going to work

Met at white heart, and went on the ghost walk for a short time. Their was a alot of people and unfortunatly the groups got split up.Our group went with the son of the guy who normally does it. It must have been his first time coz he was very nervous. We lef after 10 mins coz we couldnt hear anything he was saying. The 3 of us went to lloyds had a few beers and came up with a kick ass story.

Given brief at HSAD, told what groups people were in, I was grouped with Leon, Dan and Roger. Group members present were Leon, Roger and myself. Basically we discussed the brief, brainstormed initial ideas and exchanged contact details so we could arrange future meetings for discussing the project. After our intial conversation we realised we wanted to create a hunt that involved the user having to work out various codes to get to the next clue. We came up with several ideas for these and other tasks for the user to complete on the quest.

Tasks for user:
1. An envelope containing a piece of A4 paper with, seemingly random sections cut out which, when lined up with a page from a book (written on the bottom of the page) spells another clue for the user.

2. Visit a place where we have written coordinates for GoogleEarth (e.g 100,236,104,708), this takes the user to another random place on Google Earth for the next clue.

3. Send the user down an alleyway with a Youtube address written in chalk above them. Entering this address in a browser will take the user to a a YouTube video which will feature a character which congratulates them for making it up to point in the game and reveals the next clue.

4. The user has to find a hidden spade and dig where X marks the spot, they will find a key which unlocks a room somewhere. Inside the room they find a camera on a tripod with a note attached saying 'Zoom In and Take A Look', the user zooms in and sees the next clue written in an obscure place that would have been impossible to see without using the camera. (This ones maybe a little OTT). We realised we could use YouTube for displaying video created by us, giving great flexibility in what we could create. We could utilise GoogleEarth by writing the coordinates (latitude and longditude) for the user to find somewhere, they then enter the coordinates into GoogleEarth and are taken to the chosen location which has a clue.
